It's cake, it's ice cream, how can you go wrong?! As I'm fond of saying, this is more a guideline than a recipe. You get your hands on some cake, some ice cream, and some toppings, put them together, and listen to the raves. Oh, you do have to eat it in between some of those steps.
One of the many virtues of an ice cream cake is that you can make it well ahead and freeze it until needed. Which, in fact, means that you can always have one tucked away if you're disciplined enough to know it's there and not sneak off for a nibble.
It's a favourite with young and old, it's for all seasons, it's easy, and it's your cake.
